Safe and Fun Halloween Events for your Family
If you have kids, this is probably their favorite holiday EVER! They get to dress up as their favorite characters and go out and search the neighborhood for candy.
This time last year, we were in the thick of Covid and trying to find alternative methods to celebrating the new year. In our post “Making Halloween Safe for your Family During Covid-19”, we outlined some optional ways that you could enjoy the activities indoors and keeping everyone close to home. This year things are opening up a bit and people are looking for places to go with their kids. Here are some additional ideas and places offering fun in the month of October.
Haunt the Zoo: This is a family favorite and it’s outdoors! The Zoo has altered how they do things this year which has made it interesting. They are now implementing 8 ft. treat tubes so that everyone can stay socially distanced. They have over 20 different booths and trick-or-treat trails. You can go Saturday and Sunday the entire month of October.

HallowMarine: The Oklahoma Aquarium is also getting in on the action. They will be doing indoor trick-or-treating while letting you explore the aquarium. They will also be doing a Halloween costume contest so be sure to dress the kids up!

There’s no place like Pumpkinville: If you haven’t gone to the Myriad Botanical Gardens, this is a great time to go. There’s a children’s garden and even train rides for the kids. They will have story time on Saturdays at 11am and you can register for crafts like painting a pumpkin and face painting. They are even offering a sensory night on October 19th which has a controlled environment for those who are sensitive to loud music and need smaller crowds. There will be something for everyone. If you visit the events calendar, there are a long list of events available through the month of October.

Treat Trail at Scissortail Park: We can’t forget our new and beautiful Scissortail Park. They are hosting a treat trail on October 30th. For a $5 entry fee for each kid, they will get a treat trail bag to collect things along the way including a candy chute. If you get there early, your kids can get a pumpkin to paint.

The Great Pumpkin Smash: Now we know this is in November but it was just too fun to pass up on our list. The CommonWealth Urban Farms are doing a pumpkin smash. Bring in your old and worn pumpkins you had out on Halloween and Thanksgiving for disposal. But the BEST PART is the kids can throw, smash and stomp on them for the big compost pile.
